In the past year, under the leadership of Peter J. Mazzone, MD, MPH, FCCP, the editorial board of CHEST has undertaken several strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the journal’s relevance and accessibility for clinicians in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. These efforts focus on encouraging the submission of high-quality research, improving the clinical application of reviews, and expanding access to journal content.

The editorial team, consisting of deputy editors Susan Murin, Darcy Marciniuk, and Chris Carroll, has spearheaded several initiatives. Murin's focus on Contributor Experience aims to ensure a rewarding interaction for editorial board members, reviewers, authors, and readers. This includes enhancing communication, providing educational resources, and simplifying the submission process. Marciniuk's Outreach initiatives seek to build relationships with societies and journals to attract more content to CHEST, while Carroll's Web and Multimedia efforts aim to improve content accessibility and engagement through visual abstracts and podcasts.

Additionally, the journal is organized into nine content areas led by subspecialty editorial teams, which play a pivotal role in determining impactful research and review topics. A new section, Humanities in CHEST Medicine, led by Fabien Maldonado, aims to integrate humanities into medical practice and enrich the reader experience.

The publishing team, notably assistant editor Hilary Petersen and statistical editor Mike Kattan, has been vital in supporting these initiatives, enhancing the journal's review process, and managing content organization. Collaborative efforts with Elsevier have facilitated innovative approaches to medical communication.

Moving forward, the team at CHEST is committed to maintaining and building upon these efforts, seeking to deliver impactful, high-quality content and actively engaging with its audience for continuous improvement.
